BetAIR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Oregon founded by two high school students from Jesuit High School.
Our mission at BetAIR is to harness the power of innovative technology and community collaboration to provide accessible and affordable DIY smart air filtration inventions for vulnerable populations in smoke and wildfire-affected regions.
We strive to improve respiratory health, reduce the adverse effects of wildfire smoke, and promote environmental sustainability. Through our advocacy efforts and partnerships with local and governmental organizations, we are dedicated to achieving clean, breathable air for all Oregonians.

Clean air for all within our local community is a major public health issue. Airborne pollutants such as particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and nitrogen oxides can lead to significant health issues. Key risks include:
Respiratory Issues
Asthma, COPD, and other breathing problems can worsen due to smoke exposure
Short-term exposure can cause coughing, wheezing, and sore throats
Cardiovascular Risks
Increased risk of heart attacks, high blood pressure, and irregular heartbeats
Mental Health Effects
Wildfires can lead to stress, anxiety, and PTSD
Poor air quality may cause sleep disturbances and impact mood
Irritation to Eyes and Skin
Smoke can cause eye redness, itching, and skin rashes
Long-Term Health Risks
Prolonged exposure increases the risk of chronic respiratory conditions and even stroke
There is a higher risk of developing certain cancers, particularly lung cancer
